Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan met with Deputy Director of the UN World Food Program Nanna Skau and Responsible for the partnership of the program Artak Ordyan

The meeting was attended by Head of the Climate Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment Nona Budoyan, Head of the Water Policy Department Lilit Abrahamyan and Acting Director of the “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO Levon Azizyan. During the meeting, the parties discussed possible formats of bilateral cooperation in the field of the environment. The Deputy Minister noted that effective and sustainable water resources management is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Environment, and in addition to technical support, capital investments are also needed to carry out serious reforms in the water sector. Gayane Gabrielyan informed her colleagues that in 2022, a new Provision on the reuse of water from fish farms and the installation of a closed circulatory system was fixed in the Water Code. The Deputy Minister also presented the EU for the Environment program and spoke about the planned results, looking forward to cooperation with the World Food Program also within the framework of this program. During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to strengthening the management and monitoring capabilities of implemented programs, retraining of personnel. The Deputy Minister also stressed the importance of possible cooperation within the framework of the participation of the Armenian delegation in the COP27 climate forum, which will be held in Egypt on November 7-18 this year. The Deputy Minister expressed hope that the issues and programs discussed during today's meeting will become a new incentive for further development and strengthening of relations.
