Various types of planting materials

The use of quality planting material is pivotal for tree planting and establishing forests. Various planting materials are used for afforestation works, which may be mainly divided into several groups: seedlings, saplings, cuttings.
SEEDLINGS are 1-2 year old plants raised from a seed, and are characterized by the following features:
have straight nests with tops of fully branched shoots and sprouted buds,
Dimensions for different species must meet the accepted standards (stem diameter at the rootstock at least 2.5-6 mm, above-ground part at least 10-30 cm),
have a well-developed aerial root systems with the relevant quantity of roots above the ground,
The length of the root system should be at least 20 cm.
SAPLING  is a young tree raised from seeds or cuttings in the school section of a nursery. Saplings are characterized by the following features:
have straight nests with tops of fully branched shoots and sprouted buds,
The dimensions must meet the accepted standards (diameter of the stem at the rootstock at least 5-10 mm, height of the above-ground part at least 20-40 cm).

Cutting is a detached vegetative part of a  plant envisaged for cutting. It can be stiff (in autumn or in early spring), semi-stiff or green (in summer), root (prepared in autumn, kept by spring), leaf (some part of the leaf).
Green cutting is one of the most popular methods. For this purpose, 1 year and 2 year cuttings are mainly used. Winter cuttings are mainly stored from October to December, or in spring. Summer cuttings are stored during the growing season and have limited use in forestry.
