There is a decreasing tendency in the index of illegal logging. tighter control will continue

During the press conference in "Armenpress" press hall, Vladimir Kirakosyan, Chairman of the Forestry Committee of the RA Ministry of Environment, whose 100th day of office's,'s Deputy Chairman Arusyak Siradeghyan, spoke about the forest restoration programs being implemented in the republic.
In recent years, the volume of reforestation and afforestation works has increased.
About 2019 hectares of afforestation were carried out in 2019-2021 at the expense of the Forestry Committee and Hayantar's own funds.
Significant reforestation work is also planned this year. For 2022, 413 million drams have already been allocated from the state budget for reforestation and afforestation. About 130 hectares of afforestation is planned this year with the help of the state budget, and 77 hectares are to support trunk growth. In addition, a large afforestation program has been launched this year in cooperation with international organizations. It is an 8-year program, within the framework of which 5700 hectares of afforestation works will be carried out. This year, afforestation works will be carried out in an area of about 1300 hectares. The government plans to increase the area covered by 50,000 hectares by 2030.
In parallel with reforestation, the Forest Committee is focusing on human-related issues, in particular illegal logging.
