The second life of wastes exhibition within the framework of “Restoration of Riparian Zones in Armenia”

On July 15, at 11:00-15:00, "The Second Life of Wastes" open-air exhibition will be held in Artsvanist community of Gegharkunik region within the framework of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)-, the RA Ministry of Environment-, and the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures-implemented “Restoration of Riparian Zones in Armenia” COVID-19 Response Project. In the course of the exhibition, new items made from wastes by the participants during the trainings held within the framework of the project will be displayed, as well as "treasures" found as a result of riverbed cleaning works in 10 communities. The exhibition will also feature photographs taken during the clean-up in the beneficiary communities.
Earlier, in April, May and June, 253 residents from 10 communities of Gegharkunik region (Tsakkar, Lichk, Artsvanist, Lusakunk, Khachaghbyur, Karchaghbyur, Martuni, Nerkin Getashen, Geghovit and Vardenik) took part in the cleaning of riparian zones of a number of rivers flowing into Lake Sevan. As a result, 229.364 kg garbage and 283 kg recyclable wastes were collected and transferred to relevant recycling plants. Immediately before the start of the clean-up work, all participants passed trainings on waste collection, recycling, sorting and other environmental issues.
