"Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan" program is jointly funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The program is implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation, the United Nations Development Program and the Ministry of Environment of RA.
The purpose of the program is to promote actions aimed at protecting the environment of Lake Sevan. Lake Sevan is the largest freshwater lake in the Caucasus region.
As part of the component to improve the opportunities for implementing land use and processing operations that are favorable and save water for the ecosystem, 30 households of 7 communities received additional income due to organic processing of new types of cabbage with a shorter rotation period and less environmental impact, 22 households of 3 communities benefited from innovative organic processing of fertile potato and cabbage crops, regulating soil moisture and using a safe nutrient regime. People living in Tsovagyugh and nearby villages use the natural agriculture training center, which will have two demonstrative gardens on the territory of 2.5 hectares: a fertile berry garden on 2 hectares and an orchard on 0.5 hectares.
