The Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan met the delegation headed by the Resident Representative of the UN Development Program in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili

Greeting his colleagues at the Ministry of Environment, Minister Romanos Petrosyan congratulated Ms. Natsvlishvili on her appointment and expressed hope that as a result of cooperation it will be possible to raise the bar of good and effective relations between the Ministry of Environment and UNDP by several degrees.
The United Nations Development Program Office in Armenia and the RA Ministry of Environment jointly implemented numerous programs that contributed both to the fulfillment of Armenia's obligations under environmental conventions and to the improvement of national legislation and management system.
The main objective of the UNDP program document is to promote sustainable development, among other things, by stimulating "green" and stable principles, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, disaster risk mitigation and climate change, which are aimed at increasing the sustainability and sustainability of the environment and the rational use of natural resources.
Currently, the following programs are being implemented under the coordination of the UNDP Ministry, which were touched upon during the meeting.
In particular, "De-risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits" UNDP-GCF Project was touched upon. The purpose of the program is to expand investments aimed at energy-efficient modernization of buildings in Armenia, reduce their risks to encourage private sector investment and reduce fuel poverty.
The EU for Climate (regional) program was discussed. It promotes the development and implementation of climate policy by the Eastern Partnership countries, contributing to the reduction of emissions and climate stabilization, as well as the commitments established by the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
The EU4SEVAN program was touched upon. The 5th result of the program is implemented by UNDP in order to improve the management of the ecosystem of Lake Sevan. At the suggestion of the Ministry, changes have been made as a result of 5.4 and work is being done to purchase equipment for the Sevan LLC.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to expand the scope of cooperation, as well as to take concrete steps to implement projects as soon as possible that contribute to effective environmental management and environmental interests.
