Final meeting-press conference of the "Unified Environmental Monitoring Program for the Black Sea Basin countries"

Today, Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan took part in the final meeting-press conference BSB 884 "Unified Environmental Monitoring Program for the Black Sea Basin countries", funded by the European Union.
The program includes the Strandzha National Park in Bulgaria, the Bio Reserve complex in the Danube Delta in Rumin, the Dilijan National Park in Armenia and part of the protected areas of Georgia. The overall goal of the project is to increase the level of access to cross-border compatible environmental monitoring data and information in the national parks of the Black Sea basin and in specially protected areas.
The Deputy Minister made a speech in which, in particular, he touched upon the negative impact of climate change on ecosystems and biodiversity․
"In the Republic of Armenia, also in the field of the environment, we are faced with multifactorial influences that leave negative consequences, therefore there is an urgent need for monitoring ecosystems.
The BSB 884 program "Joint Monitoring of Environmental Protection for the Black Sea Basin countries", funded by the European Union, allowed researchers to study data on water, air, biodiversity, red book and invasive species and develop a methodology for assessing the impact of national parks on biodiversity, and steps were proposed for further conservation of biodiversity.
It is welcome that the program has been implemented with a number of countries of the Black Sea region, cooperation with which, I am sure, has created good opportunities in terms of joint research, exchange of experience," the Deputy Minister said and expressed hope that the results obtained will be useful not only when conducting research in the National Park of Dilijan, but will also help to carry out similar work in other specially protected natural areas.
