Planted 520,000 willow cuttings with participation of 249 people

In the framework of “Restoration of Riparian Zones in Armenia” COVID-19 Response Project, implemented jointly by GIZ and RA Ministry of Environment, 520,000 willow cuttings have been planted in the riparian zones of Karchaghbyur, Argichi, Masrik, Gavaraget rivers in May 2021 with participation of 249 people from the adjacent communities (Makenis, Akhpradzor, Vardenis, Geghhovit, Mets Masrik, Sarukhan, Gavar town, Madina, Lanjaghbyur, Gegharkunik, Martuni town). In parallel to the planting works, cleaning of riparian zones of rivers flowing into Lake Sevan through Tsakkar, Lichk, Artsvanist, Lusakunk, Karchaghbyur, and Khachaghbyur communities has been carried out in which overall 152 persons from the above-mentioned communities have been involved. 
As a result of the cleaning works, more than 100,122 kg of waste and 110 kg of recyclable waste was collected. Cleaning of the riparian zones of rivers will continue in June 2021.
