On November 10, the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly of RA discussed in the first reading the draft law "On Amendments to the RA Tax Code".

Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan noted that the existing global environmental problems: the destruction of the ozone layer, climate change due to global warming already have a harmful impact on the environment, as well as on people's lives and health.
In this area, Armenia continues to fulfill its international obligations arising from the Vienna Convention "On the Protection of the Ozone Layer", the Montreal Protocol "on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer", as well as the legal regulations of the EAEU.
The RA Tax Code defines the environmental tax rates for products that cause damage to the environment. The draft proposes to remove from the relevant table of the Code the ozone-depleting substances, the import of which is prohibited in our country. It is planned to set the environmental tax rates for the import and sale of the mentioned materials at 2.0%.
The project received a positive conclusion.
