Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan met representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ)

Minister of Environment  Hakob Simidyan received representatives of the assessment mission of the multi-donor program of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) "decarbonization, climate resilience and energy security in the Eastern Partnership countries".
The project is jointly funded by the European Union (EU) and the Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMUV).
Welcoming his colleagues at the Ministry of Environment, Minister Hakob Simidyan highly appreciated the cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany․
"The Federal Republic of Germany is Armenia's best environmental partner among the EU countries. We highly appreciate the assistance of Germany, in this case the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in the agenda for improving and preserving the state of the environment in Armenia," the Minister said.
EU actions the head of the assessment mission Martina Kolb thanked for the reception and reiterated her readiness to assist the Republic of Armenia within the framework of environmental priorities․
"The purpose of the planned multi-donor project is to support the green transition in the Eastern Partnership countries, strengthen decarbonization and increase resilience to the effects of climate change," said Ms. Kolb.
The Minister presented to his colleagues the priorities and legislative reforms aimed at them, which are currently in the focus of the Ministry's attention.
The Minister touched upon the process of developing sectoral strategies and expressed hope for assistance in its full implementation.
Touching upon the observation of the Head of the EU Mission to Armenia Frank Hess on the cooperation of the countries of the region in the water sphere, Minister Hakob Simidyan once again confirmed the fact that the Republic of Armenia is a responsible and full-fledged member of the international community․
"The Republic of Armenia, as a country in the region, including a full member of regional programs, considers itself responsible for registering progress in this area. We are again considering possible peaceful coexistence in the region, including in the field of the environment, and, in particular, in the field of water resources, from the point of view of our responsibility to the international community. Countries have borders, but water resources do not have them, so we need to find possible facets of cooperation and make efforts in this direction."
At the end of the meeting, the Minister wished the mission success and expressed readiness to do everything possible to ensure the continuity of programs and the implementation of new joint programs.
