Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at environmentally safe management of hazardous chemicals and waste in Armenia

Aiming to contribute to the implementation of relevant projects and measures aimed at the conservation, improvement and restoration of the environment and wanting to reduce the negative impact of hazardous waste on human health and the environment, the Ministry of Environment, represented by Secretary General Sergo Atanesyan and "VEGA WORLD" LLC in the presence of the chief manager Yuri Afrikyan, a memorandum of cooperation was signed.
Taking into account that one of the objectives of the Ministry is the development and implementation of the policy of the Government of the RA in the field of ensuring environmentally safe management conditions of hazardous chemicals and wastes produced and used in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, with this memorandum the parties expressed their willingness to unite their efforts within the limits of the RA legislation, investing their professional, human and the technical resources and potential for the implementation of joint projects and activities of mutual interest aimed at the protection, improvement and restoration of the environment.
With this memorandum, the company is willing to:
- accept consumer electronic devices and equipment waste,
- carry out sorting and fragmentation of collected electronic waste,
- recycle or ensure recycling of sorted e-waste:
With own resources or through other licensed organizations:
- add additional funds in the same amount to the financial resources obtained from recycling or utilization of electronic devices and equipment waste, directing them to afforestation and reforestation works,
- to comply with the requirements set by RA legislation regarding the use of waste.
Sergo Atanesyan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment congratulated the partners, thanked them for their activities aimed at nature conservation and expressed hope that other companies of the private sector will join this cooperation.
In his turn, Yuri Afrikyan, the general manager of "VEGA WORLD" LLC, thanked the ministry for its open and flexible approach to cooperation.
