During the regular session of the National Assembly convened on October 25, Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan presented the package of projects on amending the Law on "Atmospheric Air Protection".
In the "Atmospheric Air Protection" Law of 1994 change is made for the first time since. The need for change at this time is not only an international obligation, but also a need for modernization.
The law has been thoroughly revised. Added a number of concepts used in other countries to assess air quality. Provisions related to technical regulation of emissions, accounting of emissions, distribution of powers, etc. have also been added.
The Deputy Minister also spoke about the need to introduce new technologies to economic operators to reduce emissions.
"Economic growth should not stop as a result of these tightening of the atmospheric air, just organizations should be able to have a tendency not to stop the economic growth by introducing these new technologies, this is our main problem", said the deputy minister, informing that the legislative package also tightened the administration and in case of repeated violation within one year, the entrepreneur's activity will be suspended, which was not the case before.
The legislative package envisages administrative responsibility for burning production or consumption waste in waste treatment facilities or in specially designated places or in unlicensed landfills.
