Meeting "Environmental cooperation for a better future"

During his working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to participate in the meeting entitled "Environmental Cooperation for a Better Future", Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan held a bilateral meeting with Deputy President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Chairman of the Environmental Organization of Iran Ali Salajaghe.
The Minister thanked his colleagues for their hospitality and stressed the importance of organizing a forum aimed at solving environmental problems in the region.
"Armenian-Iranian relations are at a high level, and as a result of our cooperation, we have already recorded significant results in various fields. And our cooperation in the field of the environment is developing quite dynamically and profitably," the Minister said.
Speaking about the experience of effective Armenian-Iranian cooperation, the Minister also touched upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed at the 17th meeting of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission held in Yerevan, by which the parties stated their bilateral readiness to develop cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, healthcare, environment, education, culture, tourism, agriculture and high technology.
The parties discussed in more detail the steps of cooperation in accordance with the requirements established by the memorandum.
The effective joint work of recent months on the border river Araks was touched upon. The Minister expressed the readiness of the Armenian side to continue cooperation in the direction of solving problems and expressed hope that as a result of this interaction, the most visible results will be recorded in the near future.
Other current issues related to the sphere were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister once again thanked for the invitation and reception and invited partners to Armenia, expressing hope that mutual visits will contribute to more effective cooperation and help implement the agreements reached.
