International Forest Day

March 21 is officially celebrated worldwide as the "International Day of Forests".
In Armenia, this day is also celebrated as the day of the forester.
For the first time, the International Day of Forests was celebrated on March 21, 2013. It was proclaimed on December 21, 2012 by a decision of the UN General Assembly.
The International Day of Forests was created as a global platform for those people who are interested in preserving forests and mitigating the effects of global climate change.
It is impossible to underestimate the importance of forests for the whole planet, in particular for humanity. Forests have ecological, social and economic significance. This is a pillar of the formation of the planet's climate, providing oxygen, mitigating the effects of harmful emissions, protecting water resources, forming flora and fauna and ecosystems:
according to the latest accounting data, the forested territory of the Republic of Armenia is 11.1% of the total area of the country.
The Government of the Republic of Armenia has a clear commitment and political will to preserve, restore and expand forests and forested areas.
And in this important matter, we need to combine all efforts.
