Acting Director of the "Zvartnots Air Navigation Center "  CJSC of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia Tatul Hayrapetyan and Director General of the Civil Aviation Agency "Sakaeronavigation " of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Gocha Mezvirishvili signed a protocol of intent for cooperation.
The purpose of the protocol is the coordinated provision by the meteorological control bodies of civil aviation (Yerevan FIR and Tbilisi FIR) of information to aviation users of SIGMET (actual and expected weather hazards in the flight route), developed on the basis of the SIGMET coordination procedures template ICAO EUR DOC 014 SIGMET and ICAO of the AIRMET European region.
The unified and coordinated SIGMET information issued in the airspace of Armenia and Georgia will be used by aircraft carrying out transit flights through the airspace of the two countries, which will improve flight safety in terms of meteorological services and the number of transit flights.
Tatul Hayrapetyan held numerous meetings with the heads of the Sakaeronavigation Company and the Meteorological Service at the head office of the Sakaeronavigation Company of the Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic of Georgia.
The two sides also stressed their readiness to take the necessary steps aimed at expanding cooperation.
This process was carried out with the assistance of the Minister of the Environment as a result of the joint work of the relevant specialists of "Zvartnots Air Navigation Center "  CJSC  and Sakaeronavigation Company.
