An expanded meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chairman of the SCO Forest Committee Vladimir Kirakosyan

Discussion of the problems of the forest sector with public organizations.
Taking as a basis the importance of the issues raised during the retreat held on January 4, 2023 at the Ministry of the Environment, headed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and dialogue and cooperation with partner organizations in the implementation of the government's policy in the forest sector, with the aim of expanding forest territories., In order to discuss actions in the field of reforestation and afforestation and prospects for the continuous development of potential aimed at their implementation, an expanded meeting was held in the Ministry headed by Chairman of the SCO Forestry Committee Vladimir Kirakosyan.
The meeting was attended by heads of professional departments of the Ministry, Deputy Head of the Forestry Committee Sergo Atanesyan and Deputy Director of the State Institution "Office for the Implementation of Environmental Programs" Armen Khojoyan.
Welcoming the representatives of the organizations, the Chairman of the Forestry Committee first of all thanked them for their many years of conscientious work and informed that this year it is planned to increase the volume of logging operations in the republic.
Vladimir Kirakosyan asked, through a substantive and open discussion, to present the issues that hinder logging operations and try to find solutions together.
During the discussion, the obligations of the Republic of Armenia to increase forest territories and the issue of producing a sufficient number of seedlings for the proper implementation of logging operations were also touched upon.
Summing up the meeting, the head of the Forest Committee stated that much remains to be done in this direction. It is necessary to combine public, private and public efforts so that significant progress can be made in this vital area.
