In the law on the Protection of atmospheric air of 1994, at the moment, the need for change is due not only to an international obligation, but also to the need for modernization. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan at a meeting of the NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection on October 19, presenting the proposed amendments to the draft law.
Provisions concerning technical regulation of emissions, accounting of emissions, distribution of powers, etc. were also added.
The legislative package provides for administrative responsibility for incineration of production or consumption waste at waste management facilities, in specially designated places or in unauthorized landfills.
The legislative regulation will harmonize the criteria for assessing air quality adopted in the world and currently in force in the country, the demand for the introduction of "the best available technologies" widely used in developed countries to limit emissions.
