Today, under the leadership of Minister Hakob Simidyan, with the participation of "Sevan" National Park, "Hayantar" SNCO, "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO, Environmental Protection and Subsoil Inspection Body, Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of RA NAS, Ministry's professional departments and non-governmental organizations the problem of drying of pine trees in "Sevan National Park" SNCO was discussed.
During the meeting, the agreements reached during the previous meeting and the works carried out during this meeting were summarized. The road map of urgent measures to combat the disease and the existing international experience were discussed.
The minister noted that it is extremely important to ensure inclusiveness at every stage of the decision-making process.
Let's remind that the problem has been noticed since 2017. Trees infected with the disease wither without signs of weakening, resulting in tree fall, disruption of the connectivity of tree foliage, turning into a sparse forest. Along with this process, the normal regrowth of pines in these centers was also disrupted.
As a result of the inventory and assessment, it was found that there are also a large number of trees going to dry, around 10,000 trees. The disease spreads rapidly.
Test samples taken from infected foci, tree trunks and soil were studied in laboratories in Germany and Russia.
A preliminary study has documented the presence of nematode disease in the area. In conclusion, it is mentioned as the most dangerous disease, the main pest is the nematode, which is spread by beetles.
