Discussions in the NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection

Today, the NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection discussed and gave a positive conclusion on the second reading of the draft law "On Amendments to the RA Law on Environmental Impact Assessment and Expertise" and the attached legislative package.
Environment Minister Hakob Simidyan said that proposals were received between the first and second reading, some of which were accepted.
The development and adoption of the project stems from the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement, as well as from the problems that emerged as a result of law enforcement and the need to clarify the existing regulations.
The Law "On Environmental Impact Assessment and Expertise" regulates in the Republic of Armenia strategic ecological assessment, environmental impact assessment, transboundary impact assessment, state environmental impact assessment, public notification, implementation of public hearings, provision of state expert opinion, loss of force, the relationships related to the rights and responsibilities of the initiators in the processes of environmental impact assessment, examination and implementation of planned activities.
The revised package is planned to be discussed during the upcoming regular sessions of the National Assembly.
