Deputy Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia Gayane Gabrielyan presented the draft law proposed by the Government "On Making Addendum to the RA Tax Code " to the Parliament in the first reading on December 9.

The Ministry of the Environment proposes to extend until January 1, 2024 the current period of benefits for the import and alienation of exclusively electric vehicles-large, medium and small buses, passenger vehicles, motorcycles and mopeds.
"In parallel with the benefit established by the Tax Code, currently by the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission - until 2021. Since December 31, import customs duty rates have been reset for passenger cars operating with an electric motor," the Deputy Minister said.
According to the Deputy Minister, after the entry into force of the benefits established by the Tax Code from July 1, 2019, a favorable environment has been created in the Republic for the purchase of electric vehicles, as well as for the development of infrastructures necessary for their operation.
"In the period from July 1, 2019 to July 1, 2021, 5,291 electric vehicles were imported to the Republic of Armenia, in 2019 -668, in 2020-2055 and only in the first half of 2021-2,468.
According to her, filling stations are increasing in the Republic, about 45 are installed and operated.
It was noted that currently the Office for the Implementation of programs of the Ministry of Environment has also launched a grant program "Transition Towards Electronic Vehicles in Armenia ", within which it is planned to purchase more than a dozen electric vehicles and charging stations for the government.
