Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meimaryan and Chairman of the Forestry Committee Vladimir Kirakosyan held a meeting with representatives of the charity foundation "ATP." (Armenia Tree Project).
Issues related to possible cooperation within the framework of the commitments of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the field of increasing forest areas and reforestation were discussed at the meeting.
Greeting his colleagues, Deputy Minister Aram Meimaryan touched upon the programs implemented in the direction of forest conservation, reforestation and forest protection, in particular, the importance of nationwide planting of "10 million" trees.
"The forest is the most important component of the environment that needs special treatment. Planting and caring for a tree is the most important thing we can do for our country and future generations. And in this important matter, it is necessary to combine the efforts of government departments and private organizations as effectively as possible," the Deputy Minister said.
Representatives of the charity foundation "ATP" (Armenia Tree Project) presented the activities of the foundation.
The aim of "ATP" is to improve the living standards of the Armenian people and preserve the environment through trees. He has greened more than 1,200 communities in Armenia, and is planting trees in all regions of Armenia, including Artsakh.
Educational programs implemented by the foundation were also touched upon: more than 57,000 students and teachers took part in educational programs of "ATP".
The parties discussed current issues, various dimensions of cooperation, projects, referring to the common values on which the cooperation between the Ministry and the Foundation is based.
