Challenges and ongoing work on decision-making and ensuring the accessibility of justice in environmental matters

On April 27-28, a meeting of the working group on access to environmental information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice was held.
The meeting focused on challenges and best practices in ensuring the accessibility of justice in environmental and energy planning.
The representatives of the parties shared their experience or presented what situations arise and what problems are faced by national judicial or environmental justice authorities when the decision-making process does not take into account or ignores issues that could be decisive in terms of correctly assessing possible environmental impacts and reducing environmental pressure.
An administrative court judge, legal specialist and a representative of the public sector took part in the event from Armenia.
The event was also attended by the national coordinator of the Convention, Legal Adviser to the Minister of Environment Mari Chakryan. He presented the challenges and ongoing work to ensure the accessibility of justice and decision-making on environmental issues, in parallel with the reforms in the energy sector in Armenia.
