REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA
MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT
20.06.2022
A discussion was held on the implementation of the obligations arising from the Aarhus Convention

The Ministry of Environment discussed the planning of actions necessary to fulfill Armenia's obligations arising from the Aarhus Convention ("on access to information about the environment, public participation in decision-making and access to justice")
The discussion was attended by the Legal Adviser of the Ministry of the Environment, the National coordinator of the Aarhus Convention Mari Chakryan, specialists of the relevant departments of the Ministry, representatives of the scientific and educational center Ecoiravunk YSU and public organizations.
Public participation in solving issues related to environmental plans, programs and policies, as well as public participation in the preparation of regulations that have the force of direct application were discussed.
The process of participation in the implementation of the Convention is important from the point of view of increasing the level of participation of members of the public in decision-making on actions that have a possible impact on the environment, as well as ensuring the accessibility of justice.
