Ahead of the final conference of the twinning program "Strengthened conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in Armenia in accordance with European standards", Minister Hakob Simidyan had a meeting with the traveling ambassador of Finland to the South Caucasus, Mrs. Kirtsi Narinen.
The minister discussed with Ms. Narinen a range of issues regarding water diplomacy in the South Caucasus and the possibility of cross-border cooperation in the water sector.
Reference was made to water diplomacy, issues related to information exchange and unification of future efforts in the field were discussed.
The reforms of the sector were discussed and the future tasks were outlined. efforts aimed at expanding direct cooperation with various institutional actors can become one of the targets of coordinated technical assistance to the sector.
The minister informed that the RA government aims to consider efforts to mitigate the effects of environment, climate change and effective management of the water sector as a national priority and part of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and EU-supported reform process.
The parties agreed to continue the meetings and discussions in favor of reforms in the sector.
