Today Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia Fukushima Masanori

Deputy Minister Tigran Gabrielyan took part in the meeting.
Welcoming the Ambassador to the Ministry of Environment, the Minister first of all expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for the constant support provided to the Republic of Armenia in various fields. "Cooperation between the Governments of the Republic of Armenia and Japan, in particular, in the field of the environment, is stable and effective.
The assistance of the Government of Japan both in terms of the development of professional abilities and in terms of technical support is very important and purposeful," the minister said.
The Ambassador, in turn, thanked for the reception and confirmed that Armenia is an important partner for Japan for cooperation and development of the idea of the rule of law.
During the meeting, the cooperation programs in the field of the environment and the prospects for expanding this cooperation were touched upon.
The Minister, in particular, touched upon the possibilities of processing or neutralization of mercury as waste in Armenia and the possibility of cooperation with Japan on the acquisition of technical equipment in the process of its implementation.
The grant agreement on the creation of greenhouses and an anti-hail network for the restoration of forests in the Lori region, presented within the framework of the "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GP)" program approved by the Government of Japan, was touched upon. Within the framework of which the PA "my forest Armenia" will build a greenhouse for forest seedlings with an area of 506 sq. m. m on the territory of the nursery in Gugarka, and will also install an anti-hail network on the territory of 6600 sq. m of the same nursery.
The project "Promotion of National Investments aimed at the sustainability of climate Risks in Armenia", implemented by the Armenian Office of the United Nations Development Program in close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment (represented by the Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring), as well as the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, funded by the Government of Japan, was discussed.
It was discussed to stimulate cooperation with the Japan Meteorological Agency in order to study, localize and implement Japanese practical experience in the field of hydrometeorological hazards, early warning systems and risk modeling.
The parties agreed to continue meetings and discussions in combination with more substantive processes.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Hakob Simidyan presented Mr. Ambassador with a silver coin "Caucasian leopard" as a sign of gratitude for effective cooperation in the field of the environment.
