The state Institution "Environmental Project Implementation Unit" of the Ministry of Environment of Armenia held a seminar on December 10 and 11 in the framework of the program "Implementation of the third national component", funded by the United Nations Environment Program and the Global Environment Facility, at the Grand Resort Jermuk Hotel in Jermuk.
Representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Nature Protection of all Municipalities of the Republic of Armenia, employees of structures subordinate to the Ministry of Environment, non-governmental organizations were invited to participate in the seminar.
The purpose of the seminar is to familiarize all concerned with the methods of effective use of information and mechanisms for information platform Biosafety created under the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the procedures of publishing information related to Biosafety.
The seminar was conducted by Alexey Tarasev and Galina Mozgova.
Deputy Minister Anna Mazmanyan made a welcoming speech.
A number of important topics were discussed during the seminar, in particular:
- Presentation of the Third National Program "Development of sustainable opportunities for the effective use of the Biosafety Information Platform",
- Presentation of the Carthage Protocol on Biosafety and the Biosafety Information Platform,
- Presentation of the Carthage Protocol on Biosafety and BIP,
- Living modified organisms and interrelated concepts.

The participants passed the preliminary and final knowledge assessment test, the assessments showed that as a result of the seminar, the knowledge of the participants on the above topics has increased by more than 60 percent.
