A seminar on technical tools and policies to promote sustainable environmental public procurement has started

A seminar on technical tools and policies to promote sustainable environmental public procurement has started today. It will last from March 28 to March 29.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan, Deputy Minister of Finance Avag Avanesyan, Responsible for Economic and Trade Issues of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Armenia Ben Burns, Chief Counsel for the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The seminar was attended by representatives of professional departments of the Ministry of Environment, representatives of ministries and the public sector.
The division of the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce for the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) has the unique task of providing technical support to governments of transition economies and private sectors to improve the legal environment of the business sector, thereby stimulating greater political stability and economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs and U.S. companies.
Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan made an introductory speech. The Deputy Minister noted the importance of the process of environmentally stable public procurement.
"The importance of the environmentally preferable procurement process is due to Armenia's significant contribution to climate negotiations and the active actions initiated by the country aimed at adaptation and mitigation of climate change," the Deputy Minister said and expressed hope that as a result of the seminar, trust between the Armenian government, the private sector and citizens will be formed through dialogue, which will contribute to a culture of stability and a green economy open to all types of business.
Objectives of the workshop:
To present environmentally sustainable methods of public procurement at the federal and state level of the USA, including tools for identification and purchase of stable goods,
Give examples of successful proposals on characteristics, standards and environmentalists for US government procurement,
To introduce participants to the best practices of ensuring stability in life cycle analysis and present a global picture of the lessons learned from UNEP,
To show the social impact of sustainable public procurement.
Deputy Minister Gayane Gabrielyan presented to her colleagues an overview of stable public procurement in Armenia.
The Deputy Minister spoke about Armenia's approach to simplifying stable procurement using tools, and also touched upon how Armenia's tools contribute to the inclusion of stability considerations and principles in the procurement process.
