On May 10-15, a regional conference of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) was organized for the first time in the Republic of Armenia.
Armenia joined this platform in 2018, the main goal of which is to preserve biodiversity, strengthen the link between science and politics.
The conference is attended by delegations from Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany and Switzerland.
The conference was organized by the German Institute of Biodiversity Network (IBN), the German Ministry of Environment and the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation with the assistance of the National Coordinator of IPBES in Armenia, Legal Adviser of the Ministry of Environment Levon Aghasyan.
Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meimaryan delivered an introductory speech at the meeting.
