Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan met with Walter Kaufman, Sonya Shiffersin, Evilia Hovhannisyan

Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan met with Walter Kaufman, Head of the offices of the Heinrich Bell Foundation in Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Sonya Schiffers, Head of the Tbilisi Office of the Caucasus Region, and Evilia Hovhannisyan, Coordinator of the Yerevan office.
The meeting was attended by heads of professional departments of the Ministry.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the existing environmental problems in Armenia, possible ways to solve them and the programs implemented in this direction.
Welcoming the guests, the Deputy Minister once again touched upon the importance of the Armenian-German cooperation.
"The Armenian-German cooperation is one of the important areas of international cooperation in the field of the environment. Numerous programs are being effectively implemented within the framework of this cooperation, and we are ready to expand this framework and further strengthen the ties of interaction," Aram Meymaryan said.
A wide range of environmental issues were discussed during the meeting. Deputy Minister Aram Meymaryan presented to his colleagues the environmental reforms that have been initiated and are in the process of being implemented and highlighted the problems in the direction of solving which Armenia can count on support and exchange of experience.
In particular, the steps taken by Armenia in the climate agenda to confront global environmental challenges were touched upon.
Legislative reforms aimed at managing the sphere and the results expected to be recorded as a result of these changes were presented.
Representatives of the Foundation, in particular, asked about the steps taken by the Ministry of the Environment in the field of environmental education and interaction with the public.
