World Meteorology Day and RA Meteorologist's Day were solemnly celebrated

On March 23, a ceremonial session dedicated to the World Day of Meteorology and the days of foresters, hydrologists and meteorologists in the Republic of Armenia was held, during which the results of the activities of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" of the Ministry of Environment for the year 2022 were summarized.
Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan, Minister of Territorial Management and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan, Director of "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO Levon Azizyan, partners of "HMC" SNCO made speeches at the ceremonial session.
In his congratulatory message, Minister Hakob Simidyan thanked all those people and partners, thanks to whose efforts the sector is developing.
"Dear foresters, hydrologists and meteorologists, I warmly congratulate you on your professional holidays. It is already the second year that, according to the Government's decision, March 21 is celebrated as Forester's Day, March 22 as Hydrologist's Day, and March 23 as Meteorologist's Day in the Republic of Armenia.
On this holiday, I would like to thank you for the responsible work that has been assigned to you. By combining our efforts in the field of forest protection and restoration, effective management of water resources, accurate weather forecasts, I am sure that we can make progress in solving the problems of the sector", said the minister.
Congratulating his colleagues and emphasizing the advice of the day, Levon Azizyan again referred to the importance of meteorological forecasts.
"Meteorological forecasts are valuable and in demand for almost all fields of activity: transportation, agriculture, construction, energy, industry, water resources, tourism, healthcare, defense, public safety, etc.
There is no doubt that the demand for well-trained and highly qualified meteorologists is greater now than ever. In a rapidly changing world, especially in the face of global climate change, meteorologists, hydrologists, and climatologists play an important role in promoting socio-economic development and supporting conditions conducive to the well-being of people around the world."
During the event, the guests watched a film about the activities of the SNCO, then director Levon Azizyan gave a summary report on the results and achievements of the SNCO in 2022.
By the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, on the occasion of Meteorologist's Day, Gagik Surenyan, deputy director of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" of the Ministry of Education and Culture, was awarded with a letter of thanks from the Prime Minister for his long-term conscientious and efficient work.
On the occasion of the professional holidays, a number of employees of "MCC" SNCO were presented with letters of thanks and certificates of appreciation by the Minister of Environment and the director of "HMC" SNCO for the conscientious performance of their work duties.
The event was concluded by awarding the winners of the thematic competition announced earlier.
