Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan took part in a large-scale seminar on food security at the Ministry of Economy.
The seminar was coordinated by Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Arman Khojoyan. The event was attended by representatives of interested RA departments and other high-ranking officials, Deputy Director of the Armenian Office of the World Food Programme Nanna Skau and other representatives of the sphere.
Daoud Khan, an expert on food security at the head office of the World Food Programme, also participated in the event online.
Deputy Director of the Armenian Office of the World Food Programme Nanna Skau once again confirmed the commitment of the Armenian office of the World Food Program and readiness to help in the development of the strategy.
In the framework of food security, in addition to the development of food production, in particular, the role of high technologies, the need for rapid response systems to shock situations, the importance of developing community infrastructures and a scientific database, as well as the development of human resources, informing citizens and other educational activities were considered.
During the discussion, an exchange of views and opinions took place on the strategy document and the work on the development of an action plan.
At the end of the meeting, the participants confirmed their readiness to work together. An agreement has been reached on the establishment of a working group to develop a food security strategy, and clear deadlines have been set for the work.
