The use of wild animals in circuses of Armenia will be prohibited

The draft law submitted by the Ministry of Environment was discussed in the National Assembly of Armenia, according to which, among other changes, it is also proposed to prohibit the use of wild animals included in the list approved by the authorized body in circuses.
The package of bills on amendments and additions to the RA Law " On Wildlife " and the attached bills for discussion in the second reading at the NA session was presented by Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan.
"The adoption of the package of projects is conditioned by the requirement to regulate legal relations and reduce administration for the protection, reproduction and sustainable use of wildlife objects, the maintenance and use of wild animals in non-free and semi-free conditions, including red Book animals, as well as the obligations of the Republic of Armenia undertaken in accordance with the UN Convention on Biological Diversity," the Deputy Minister said.
The draft establishes that in order to protect the animal world, the use of wild animal species included in the list approved by the authorized body in the Republic of Armenia is prohibited in circuses.
During the discussion in the first and second readings, there were no substantive changes.
