The program of enhanced control measures due to the whitefish spawning period has been completed. the results are summed up

The Ministry of Environment headed by Minister Hakob Simidyan, with the participation of representatives of the Sevan National Park, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the RA Police, the Yerevan City Prosecutor's Office, the Gegharkunik Regional Administration, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, the Yerevan Municipality and the Scientific Center of Hydroecology and Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia summed up the results of a joint program of strict control measures carried out during the whitefish spawning period in Lake Sevan from December 20, 2021 to January 15, 2022.
Minister Hakob Simidyan thanked his colleagues for the interconnected, voluminous and effective work done during all this time.
"This program of strict control measures has shown how government departments should work in addition to each other in order to have a noticeable result. At the beginning of the event, we achieved almost all the goals set for us, recording a satisfactory result. 
And most importantly for me, it is also obvious that the public attitude to the problem is changing. During the whole time, both residents and fishermen of the coastal communities of Lake Sevan, and our citizens looking for whitefish in the markets, showed a constructive attitude to the control measures. 
The main guarantee of the formation of any process is, first of all, the support of society," the minister said.
The Minister also touched upon the organizational problems recorded during the events, which were very quickly given short-term solutions and promised that after a complete generalization of the results and a certain analysis, options for their system solutions will be developed.
The final reports were made by representatives of the structures advocating the implementation of the measures, expressed their opinions and opinions. The participants thanked Minister Hakob Simidyan for facilitating the smooth implementation of the program and constant attention to the ongoing work.
Thus, as a result of control measures, 2,667 whitefish with a total weight of 1,044 kg were seized, 111 fishing polyethylene nets were removed from the lake, damage to the environment in the amount of 5,221,500 drams was calculated:
Materials are being prepared on the grounds of Article 292 of the RA Criminal Code (29) and Article 89 of the RA Code of Administrative Offences (2).
More detailed information on the rethinking measures will be provided in the near future.
Summing up the meeting, the Minister again recalled the ban on whitefish hunting after the completion of strict control measures and asked to approach this problem of national importance with the same vigilance and compassion.
Recall, that the fishing season in Lake Sevan ended on October 15, 2021 before the start of the new hunting season by government decision.
