The official launch event of Twinning project “Strengthened protection and sustainable use of biodiversity in Armenia in line with European standards” took place

The official launch event of the Czech Republic and the Finnish consortium-run and the Ministry of Environment-coordinated Twinning project “Strengthened protection and sustainable use of biodiversity in Armenia in line with European standards” under the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) took place.
Today, Acting Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan and Deputy Minister Anna Mazmanyan took part  in the official online meeting of the Twinning project.
Acting Minister Romanos Petrosyan made opening remarks.
Welcoming the partners at the launch event of Twinning project “Strengthened protection and sustainable use of biodiversity in Armenia in line with European standards”, the Acting Minister thanked the EU Delegation to Armenia for its continued support and constructive cooperation.
"Attaching importance to the cooperation established within the framework of the European Union Twinning Instrument, I am confident that this Project will significantly contribute to the harmonization of advanced European standards in the sphere of environmental management," said Acting Minister Romanos Petrosyan.
The Government of the Republic of Armenia has adopted a policy addressed to the comprehensive protection of the environment and natural resources, including the strengthening of specially protected areas of nature, biodiversity conservation, and ensuring of  biosafety as primary directions. As the challenges in the sphere of environmental management are of transnational nature, therefore addressing  them demands the expansion of international cooperation and pooling efforts at the global level.
In this context, Acting Minister highly appreciated  the Czech Republic and Finland's advanced experince in environmental management, remarkabely  the productive management of biodiversity and specially protected areas of nature.
"I am sure that by pooling the experience, resources and knowledge of this consortium, it will enbale to ensure the effecient Twinning project fulfillment in order to increase the effectiveness of the actions outlined in the roadmap for the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. "This colloboration is also a good opportunity to share the achievements and values of the European Union in the context of the principles of sustainable development," the Acting Minister concluded.
