The Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan had a separate conversation with UNDP Resident Representative Natia Natsvlishvili

Today, the Ministry of the Environment hosted a meeting of the Council of the United Nations Development Program “De-risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits” UNDP-GCF project and the Green Climate Fund (UNDP) program.
Prior to the meeting, Minister Hakob Simidyan had a separate conversation with the UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, Co-Chair of the Council Natia Natsvlishvili.
Greeting Mrs. Natsvlishvili to the Ministry, the Minister was pleased to state that the representative of this program, which is important for our country, is the first partner with whom she meets after assuming the post of Minister.
In the Republic of Armenia, the building sector is one of the largest consumers of energy. According to the Armenia’s Third National Communication within the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the field of buildings is one of the priorities for climate change mitigation.
"I think that the implemented program is very important not only from the point of view of competent and efficient management of energy resources, but also solves certain social problems among beneficiaries.
Considering these and other components, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Environment, I expressed readiness to make every effort to ensure the smooth running and duration of the program.
I am sure that the successful course of the program will become a new incentive for the development and implementation of other joint programs", - the minister noted.
Thanking for the meeting, Mrs. Natsvlishvili once again referred to the strong relations existing between the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Program and outlined prospects for further closer cooperation.
"The Energy Efficiency Program is one of the most important strategic programs for the UN Development Program, and it is necessary to solve all problems and move forward within the framework of efforts and attention," Natia Natsvlishvili said.
Confirming his readiness to contribute to the progress of the program, Minister Hakob Simidyan expressed hope that in the near future we will witness the implementation of the agenda of today's meeting.
