The Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan, Deputy Ministers Anna Mazmanyan, Aram Meimaryan took part in a seminar dedicated to improving the sustainability of forests in Armenia

The Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan, Deputy Ministers Anna Mazmanyan, Aram Meimaryan took part in the launch seminar of the program “Increasing forest confrontation in Armenia through mitigation of adaptation measures and expansion of green areas in rural areas”.
The Minister greeted the organization of the seminar and made an introductory speech.
"Comprehensive protection, improvement, restoration and reasonable use of the environment and natural resources are an important prerequisite for the harmonious coexistence of man and nature and a guarantee of sustainable development of the country"
Fundamental changes in the situation of environmental protection in the Republic of Armenia are possible only through the implementation of an active environmental policy, namely through the implementation of measures to prevent and minimize harmful effects on all components of the environment and excess profits of natural resources, which is possible if there is an integrated system of measures ensuring the availability of goals at various levels of management in the field of environmental management and environmental protection Wednesday.
The policy of this sphere is mainly aimed at increasing the level of the country's resilience to climate change, which involves the introduction of the best adaptation methods, promoting active participation in global efforts for low-carbon development, proper implementation of international obligations to mitigate the effects of climate change," the minister said.
The Minister touched upon the priority areas of environmental management in Armenia and noted that the Government of the Republic of Armenia's program for 2021-2026 places a large place on solving environmental protection and sustainable management problems, which is also the purpose of the mentioned program.
The implementation of the program will ensure the reduction of CO2 by increasing sustainable forest cover, improving forest management and reforestation practices, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The program will increase the stability of the forest cover in parallel with the predicted climatic changes by introducing tools of adaptive forestry to the climate.
The creation of new nurseries in the Syunik and Lori regions, fixed by the program, and in the city of Hrazdan, Kotayk region, will allow for the eight years of implementation of the program with the production of more than 12 million high-quality planting materials to restore 7,300 hectares of degraded forest areas.
"The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia has constantly promoted and will continue to promote the formation of all those initiatives aimed at sustainable forest management through afforestation and reforestation, protection, protection, use of forests and continued strengthening of opportunities aimed at expanding forest areas, namely, the implementation of actions to adapt and mitigate the effects of climate change," the Minister said.
Vladimir Kirakosyan, Chairman of the Forestry Committee of the Ministry of Environment, and Armen Yesoyan, Director of the Office for the Implementation of Environmental Projects Unit, also made speeches.
