The issue of stork contamination is in the spotlight of the Ministry of Environment

For months, the Ministry of Environment has been receiving numerous calls from representatives of the environmental community, citizens, who raise the issue of contamination of white storks.
By the instruction of Acting Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan, in order to find a source of bird contamination and ensure a systemic solution to the problem, the relevant subdivisions of the Ministry have been studying the issue since May, holding discussions with stakeholders and sending relevant letters to the responsible state agencies.
 Taking into consideration the cases of contamination of white stork feathers with unknown substance during the last two years and the facts of wastes of fisheries (fish gut) located in the landfill of Masis, which is a possible source of pollution, as a result of inspections of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body , the Ministry of Environment, addressed a letter  to  the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure  to be consistent in the sanitary and hygienic condition of waste disposal in landfills of Masis, maintaince of waste norms by private fishing farms, as well as cleaning of drainage systems in those areas, removal of substance accumulated in thereof.
The Ministry addressed another letter to Armavir and Ararat regional administrations, urging them to be consistent in revealing new cases of accumulation of garbage and wastes of fisheries outside the area of community landfills in Armavir and Ararat regions, and submitting information on recorded cases to the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body.
Additionally,  briefing that in order to solve the ecological problem of the region, to prevent new cases of bird contamination, the Ministry of Environment has  addressed numerous letters to the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, asking, if possible, to supervise  studies and inspections on the existence of contracts required for waste disposal in the fish farms in Armavir and Ararat regions, in order to organize the process of their disposal.

The issue is in the spotlight of the Ministry of Environment.
