The Government's decision on permissible norms and terms of commercial hunting, based on data on the total volume of whitefish in Lake Sevan by the National Academy of Sciences, should be respected.

According to the accounting data of the National Academy of Sciences 2020, the total mass of whitefish in Lake Sevan amounted to 2,345 tons, of which the total volume of commercial stocks is about 586.2 tons, of which within the framework of the 2nd stage of experimental whitefish hunting in 2021 a maximum quantity of 250 tons was set for use.
According to the Government decision of September 2, for fishing purposes, in 2021 the size of whitefish was increased by another 50 tons, and the hunting period was extended until October 15 of the same year, providing an opportunity for law-abiding fishermen to carry out commercial whitefish hunting in accordance with the established rules:
The concerns of our compatriots will be taken into account. But we must also realize that these regulations have an important goal to prevent illegal fishing and restore the ecosystem of Lake Sevan through the restoration of fish resources.
