The fight against illegal logging continues

The consistent activity of the Prosecutor's Office of the Lori region and regional structures of other law enforcement agencies continues in the fight against illegal logging, the process of legal assessment of criminal manifestations related to the failure to perform official duties by officials responsible for forest protection and fixing forest violations, bringing to criminal responsible officials who committed a crime:

In particular, during the preliminary investigation of criminal cases investigated under the supervision of the prosecutors of the Lori region, according to the assessment of sufficient evidence, in 2021, in the period from October 25 to October 30, charges brought on the grounds of the 2nd part of the 3rd Article 315 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia were sent to the court of first instance of general jurisdiction of the Lori region.

These officials were accused that, being authorized by duty to carry out preventive measures and control over illegal logging and other violations of forest legislation, if necessary, draw up protocols on violations, check documents granting the right to timber harvesting, other types of forest management, and establish control over their execution by forest users, showed unfair and negligent attitude to their service, did not fulfill their duties., no regular raids were carried out in the units entrusted to them, no protocols on detours were drawn up, no illegally felled trees were identified and recorded:

As a result, 346 trees of different diameters and 346 illegally cut down in their control zones were found, as a result of which the nature was damaged on a particularly large scale, in the amount of 37 million drams.

The property of the persons involved as defendants is seized for the damage caused to the state.
