The established VAT benefit for vehicles with an electric motor will be extended for another 2 years

At today's meeting, the Government approved the draft law "On Amendments in the Tax Code of the Republic of Armenia", developed by the Ministry of Environment.
The adoption of the law will create favorable conditions for stimulating the purchase and use of electric-motor vehicles in the country, ensuring the continuity of positive results already recorded, and reducing air pollution from mobile sources.
It should also be noted that the increase in the number of vehicles with an electric motor directly stimulates the consumption of electricity in the republic at night, since refueling of vehicles with an electric motor in most cases is carried out at night.
At the same time, a significant increase in the number of electric motor vehicles will also contribute to the development of the infrastructures, that are necessary for their operation (charging stations, repair points, etc.) through additional investments (by the international and private sector) and the creation of new jobs.
The adoption of the project will also directly contribute to greenhouse gas emissions until 2030 (adopted by the Armenian government in 2021. By the decision adopted on April 22 "on approval of actions established at the national level of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the Paris Agreement for 2021-2030"), the implementation of the RA commitments to reduce emissions by 40%, considering that air pollution from mobile sources plays an important role, in particular, in the amount of greenhouse gas emissions, and according to studies and analyses conducted by international structures, the operation of a car with an electric motor, unlike cars running on gasoline or diesel fuel, provides an average reduction in emissions of 4.6 tons of C02 per year.
