"Lake Sevan is of vital importance not only for Gegharkunik region, but also for the whole of Armenia. This is not only a large base of drinking water reserves, but also a unique economic, ecological and biological environment, where rare species of fauna and flora are protected. It is these factors that have long proclaimed Lake Sevan a resource of global interest and importance.
The efforts and means necessary for the conservation and reproduction of the water resources of Lake Sevan and the biodiversity of its catchment basin have been non-Bavarians for decades, as a result of which numerous and diverse problems have been transferred to us today, the settlement of which requires new joint efforts, practical and consistent cooperation with international structures, visible and clear results.
The administration of Gegharkunik region readily contributes to all programs that contribute to the conservation of the water resources of Lake Sevan, the preservation of cleanliness, the conservation and reproduction of the fauna and flora of the Sevan catchment basin. One of such popular programs is the EU4Sevan program, implemented by the UN and the German International Development Company, for the implementation of which we have approved a strategic partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding. More, we have taken the first steps to assist by providing the appropriate space for the program implementation office and sufficient working conditions, providing the necessary information. I am sure that we will work in conditions of full mutual understanding, that the administration of Gegharkunik region will assist in all the problems that have arisen, in all directions, to implement this very important program," Rubik Navoyan, Deputy Governor of Gegharkunik, said:
The exhibits presented were the works of young people living in Gegharkunik, who used as raw materials the waste extracted from the lake by cleaning Lake Sevan.
The purpose of the exhibition was to raise public awareness about pollution and the possibilities of waste recycling.
The event "responsible for Sevan 3" ended in a pleasant atmosphere, promising to implement sustainable measures of the program to preserve the ecosystem of Sevan.
