Today, under the leadership of Minister Hakob Simidyan, with the participation of "Sevan" National Park, "Hayantar" SNCO, "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO, Environmental Protection and Subsoil Inspection Body, Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences of RA, professional units of the Ministry and non-governmental organizations the problem of drying of pine trees in "Sevan National Park" SNOC was discussed.
The representatives of the "Sevan" National Park and the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia presented reports on the situation.
The problem has been noticed since 2017. Trees infected with the disease wither without signs of weakening, resulting in tree fall, disruption of the connectivity of tree foliage, turning into a sparse forest. Along with this process, the normal regrowth of pines in these centers was also disrupted.
As a result of the inventory and assessment, it was found that there are also a large number of trees going to dry, around 10,000 trees. The disease spreads rapidly.
Test samples taken from infected foci, tree trunks and soil were studied in laboratories in Germany and Russia.
A preliminary study has documented the presence of nematode disease in the area. In conclusion, it is mentioned as the most dangerous disease, the main pest is the nematode, which is spread by beetles.
During the meeting, possible solution options were discussed, international experience in such situations was also presented.
The minister presented to his colleagues the urgency of solving the problem, a decision was made to continue the studies, to summarize the agreements reached during the meeting in a short period of time and to act according to the urgent schedule.
