On the initiative of Acting Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan, it is envisaged to organize a discussion on the processes targeted at a gradual phase-out of single-use plastics

On the initiative of Acting Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan, on July 21, it is envisaged to hold a discussion with the participation of the heads of large retail chains, as well as other shopping centers on the processes directed to a gradual phase-out of single-use plastics in Armenia.
 
By the N65-A decree (February 8, 2019)  of the Government of the Republic of Armenia on " The PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA", as a priority direction of environmental management, the gradual reduction and prohibition of the use of of single-use plastics are also stipulated.

In the first phase, plastic bags and sacks were selected as the target group.
The RA Law on making amendments to the law on “Trade Services” was adopted, according to which, from January 1, 2022, it will be prohibited the sell (realization) of plastic bags and sacks with up to 50 microns in thickness, excluding sacks used for wrapping and sacks and bags made from secondary raw materials.
