As part of his participation in the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28), Minister Hakob Simidyan had a bilateral meeting with Pablo Vieira, the Global Director of the UN Partnership Support Office, and Mariana Panuncio-Feldman, the Country Engagement Director.
Let's remind that in order to effectively implement the "Nationally Determined Actions" (NAO) the Republic of Armenia joined the NAO partnership in August 2018.
The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy have been appointed as coordinating bodies, and the United Nations Development Program as a supporting partner.
The GCC Partnership brings together more than 200 members, including more than 115 developed and developing countries, and more than 80 institutions to develop and implement ambitious climate policies and programs to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the meeting, the minister presented to his colleagues the legislative reforms launched in the field and specifically referred to the Environmental Protection Service, which is being created in order to properly implement control in the field of environment.
Based on the priorities and needs of the countries, the SIA partnership offers appropriate packages of expert, technical and financial support. This collaborative format provides developing countries with access to a wide range of resources for climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as to promote "fairer" and sustainable development.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the meetings and discussions in favor of reforms in the sector.
