Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan was on a working visit to "Khosrov Forest" State Reserve.
The minister introduced Radik Oghikyan, acting director, to the staff of SNCO, then held a working meeting to discuss the current works and inventory the existing problems.
Ararat Marz Governor Sedrak Tevonyan and Vedi Community Head Garik Sargsyan were present at the meeting.
The minister congratulated Mr. Oghikyan on his appointment and expressed hope that his work experience and knowledge will serve to effectively solve the problems facing the reserve.
Radik Oghikyan thanked for the trust and promised to use his experience, knowledge and abilities to register new achievements in the field.
After the meeting, the minister toured the museum in the administrative building of SNCO, located in the city of Vedi, where the flora and fauna of the reserve is presented. The museum also presents the "Goravan Dunes" and "Khor Virap" state reserves with their typical flora and fauna.
Then the minister visited the visitor and information center of the Khosrov site, walked around the area, got acquainted with the works being carried out and the peculiarities of the maintenance regime. Issues related to the availability of fire-fighting materials and appropriate means of communication, as well as the development of safe ecotourism, were discussed.
Minister Simidyan concluded the visit with a tour of the water receiving stations built on the Vedi and Khosrov rivers for the Vedi reservoir. Built dams artificially hinder the normal movement of fish. The problem was discussed on the spot, the minister stated that a new solution should be found that will not hinder the reproduction and migration of fish.
