May 3 is International Leopard Day

The purpose of the day is to attract public attention to the conservation of the leopard population, involving people as much as possible in the conservation of this beautiful species of wildlife.
We present to you the collective video of a leopard recorded over the years in the "Arevik" National Park of the "Zangezur Biosphere Complex" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, the result of the monitoring activities carried out within the framework of the "Leopard Conservation Program" in cooperation with the Armenian branch of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The leopard is included in the Red Book of Animals of the RA (2010) with "critically endangered" status and in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List with "endangered" status.
In Armenia, the number of leopards reaches up to 10 individuals.
The leopard is a flexible animal, it has a stretched, muscular, slender body, the length of which is 180-200 cm, and the length of the tail is 80-100 cm. The weight of an adult male can sometimes reach 90 kg. They have short and round ears. The legs are short and strong, the paws are wide and have sharp claws, thanks to which leopards climb trees well. They have sharp vision, good hearing, but the sense of smell is relatively poorly developed.
The leopard is one of the symbols of Armenia. It is found in ancient sculptures and paintings as a symbol of wisdom and power.
