Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan received Karsten Rinke and Martin Schultz

Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan today received the heads of the Armenian-German SEVAMOD2 program "Creation of scientifically based management tools for Lake Sevan" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science of Germany, Dr. Karsten Rinke and program coordinator Martin Schultz.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Armenian partner organizations of the program - Acting Director of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO Levon Azizyan, Director of the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Sarkis Aghayan and Deputy Director of the Center for Ecological and Noospheric Research of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Head of the APEC and Telemedicine Department Shushanik Asmaryan.
Mr. Rinke presented the results of the SEVAMOD2 program "creation of scientifically based management tools for Lake Sevan", in particular.
- Results of 1D and 2D modeling of the hydrodynamics of the current state of Lake Sevan, which is being implemented for the first time as a lake management tool,
- The balance of nutrients in Lake Sevan-the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus inflow into the lake, for the calculation of which the tool was developed.
- The results of the assessment of the water quality of Lake Sevan using satellite remote sensing and comparison of actual observations.
Dr. Karsten also presented Rinke with further steps and the main directions for continuing the program.
Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan, welcoming the guests, noted that it is extremely necessary to continue the research work of Lake Sevan and cooperation and introduce into the lake management system research proposals submitted based on the results obtained on the basis of hydrodynamics and ecological modeling of the lake.
The Deputy Minister also noted the importance of the German partner's efforts to use the tools being created in the development of the potential of Armenian partner organizations, which is of great importance both for the successful course of the program and for training professional potential in solving the problems of Lake Sevan.
