Deputy Ministers of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan and Anna Mazmanyan met Philippe Seguin, Yannick Pochon and Vahagn Tonoyan

Deputy Ministers of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan and Anna Mazmanyan adopted the resolution "EU for the Environment. water resources and environmental data" (EU4Environment. Representatives of the Water and Data in Eastern Partner Countries program Philippe Seguini, Yannick Pochoni and the representative of the program in Armenia Vahagn Tonoyan.
Greeting her colleagues at the Ministry of Environment, Deputy Minister Gayane Gabrielyan noted that they are well aware of the importance of water resources both for the world and for Armenia. The Deputy Minister informed his colleagues that our country is now at the most important stage of water reforms, and this makes cooperation of strategic importance and exchange of experience with a friendly country -France doubly important.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues related to the implementation of the program, and agreed to continue working meetings with representatives of professional departments of the Ministry.
During the meeting, the directions and components of the program were discussed in detail. The Deputy Ministers presented their expectations and observations on each of them.
"EU for the environment. The program "Water resources and Environmental data" is aimed at improving the well-being of people in the EU Eastern Partnership countries and stimulating their transformation in accordance with the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The objectives of the project are grouped around two separate objectives.
To promote more sustainable management of freshwater water resources by improving the policy and regulation of the water sector and to contribute to the reduction of water quality and negative impacts on ecosystems as a result of anthropogenic activities.
Expand and improve the use of reliable environmental statistics in partner countries, as well as ensure improved accessibility of policy-related data to decision makers and citizens.
The Deputy Ministers paid special attention to the component "environmental statistics and accessible data", which involves the expansion of water resources accounting, the creation of practical mechanisms for data access and citizen participation in the process of data collection and analysis, as well as the preservation of international data exchange and cooperation networks.
Summing up the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a joint agenda and, as a result of periodic meetings and discussions, implement a program aimed at the conservation and competent management of water resources as effectively as possible.
