Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan took part in the fifth session of the UN Environment Program and the special session of the Environment Summit dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the UN Environment Program

The Deputy Minister made a speech, during which he touched upon the global environmental challenges and the role of Armenia in countering these challenges.
"Armenia is a small mountainous country with an extremely vulnerable, but rather ambitious environmental agenda. Our country is making significant efforts to ensure low-carbon development by increasing the share of renewable energy sources, as well as increasing forest areas and preserving biodiversity.
The Sustainable Development Goals are included in state programs, and we are well aware of the intersectoral relationship and the need for balanced social, economic and environmental development," the Deputy Minister said.
The local article of the Minister also touched on the topic of 2020. Environmental problems that have arisen as a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Anna Mazmanyan, in particular, noted:
"Azerbaijan has used internationally prohibited weapons, including chemical weapons, directed not only against civilians, but also against wonderful forests and biodiversity, causing massive fires and causing environmental disasters.
Despite these numerous challenges, Armenia is inclined to closer integration into the global environmental agenda, as well as the manifestation of our growing climate approvals.
The vision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the direction of green transformation and countering climate change is based on the principles of green and low-carbon growth.
Industry developing on the basis of a clean and circular economy is considered one of the priorities of our government".
The Deputy Minister reiterated the readiness of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia to cooperate with all UN member states, agencies, as well as international organizations and the private sector in order to promote the global environmental agenda.
