Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan met with fashion designers

Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan had a meeting with the responsible persons of  “ Supporting SMEs  and Creating Sustainable Ecosystem for Armenian Textile Industry" project  initiated by the Fashion & Design Chamber of Armenia NGO.
The project is funded by the Good Governance Fund (GGF) of the Government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Government with the support of the British people. The main international partners of the project are the British Eco-Age and Fashion Scout organizations.
The program backs the industry in the following three directions:
Professional and business capacity building: fashion business management, eco-fashion and eco-production, branding, PR  internationalization, financial planning, innovation and new value creation, production and sale, etc.
Creating business connections to enter the international market and accelerate the process of generating new jobs.
Creation of a sustainable production processing model, collaborating with textile manufacturers.
By surveying the bases for the introduction of the best international functions and application among Armenian textile manufacturers, as well as eco-fashion, supply chain experience and eco-sustainability, a roadmap for creating a sustainable eco-system is being developed in the sphere.
Taking into consideration that the country is instrumental in the  proper waste management,   assisting eco-production, promoting and reducing environmental and other risks, it is proposed:
Develop/ improve legal acts, regulations, standards in the textile industry, using international best practices/functions in the fulfillment of eco-sustainable systems, as a crucial trend in the development of the textile industry.
To create an eco-sustainable system and properly organize waste recycling, it is necessary to include waste sorting as a demand.
Establish new or facilitate the modernization of existing testing and certification laboratories, which will enable comprehensive control over imported raw materials and finished goods.
To receive support from the state, especially for companies set up to organize textile recycling process.
